I worked long a hard on convincing my husband to finally start a blog of his own-one that is near and dear to his heart — cars. He seems to really enjoy it so far and it gives him a outlet which means maybe I won’t have to hear about all that car ‘talk’. Check it out here.
[UPDATE: My husband wimped out and didn't do, but I did do it. I was able to do it for 6 days - the first 3 days were SO hard. I don't think I have ever been that hungry. Honestly. I was so hungry I wanted to eat anything. I lost about 8 lbs but it was all water and as soon as I ate it came back on. I never reached the full detox for my bowels. I think if I would have stayed on it for a few more days it would have really opened up and cleaned out. I don't know if I will ever do it again. It was just too hard - life in general is hard when you can't eat. When the weekend rolled around we had things to do and places to go. It was just too hard to manage. Perhpas if I didn't have a job it might be easier!]
My husband and I have decided to try the Master Cleanse Diet together in a few weeks. We both could benefit from losing at least 10 lbs each. I bought the book so once we get comfortable on how it works, I’ll detail our progress and weight loss. It is a minimum 10 day detox and it’s pretty intense. We actually know a few people that have tried it with amazing results, so we’re excited.

[UPDATE: I used this for a few weeks and noticed that my skin was getting irritated. I get tiny little red marks - almost like water blisters. Apparently this stuff does not agree with me. I hate that too because I really like it. Oh well. On to the next product...]
Well, in addition to moisturizers, I have a plethora of products to remove makeup including Neutrogena face towels – which I love but they really have put a dent in my wallet since I go through a whole pack in a week!My Mom started using Deep Cleansing Oil from DHC and told me to try it. I’M HOOKED! This stuff is great. It’s so different than any other product I’ve used. You apply the oil directly to a dry face while you have makeup on and massage it into your skin and it slowly dissolves your makeup. You just rinse it off after a few minutes. It’s wonderful. I love it!
DHC Deep Cleaning Oil![]()
Dirt, excess oil, makeup—even waterproof mascara—and other pore-cloggers dissolve easily, leaving your face a grime-free zone that is soft to the touch. Its unique water-soluble formula rinses completely, so you’ll never see a greasy residue. Olive oil and vitamin E help ensure you won’t see dryness either. Read the rest of this entry »
[UPDATED (2.25.08): These things are really stupid. Duh. My husband has been using them religiously since we got them - I have not. I think they are ridiculous. Anything that claims it is getting rid of waste should go through your liver and colon, not your feet! Perhaps it is a placebo effect - but my husband likes them]

Yeper, I invested more (wasted) money on this ridiculous product! Well, maybe. I haven’t actually received it yet, but I did buy it – mainly for sh*ts and giggles so my husband and I can have a good laugh!
I saw a commercial for the Kinoki Foot Pads – you know that ridiculous commercial that says using the foot pad each night will rid your body of waste, relieve fatigue, joint pain, headaches, skin rashes and many other health problems. We shall see (or not).
I admit I don’t travel extensively (one day…), but I do book a heck of a lot of travel plans for my employer. Over the last 10 years I have become a pro a booking flights, hotels, cars – you name it. I have a select number of websites that use for deals and steals and I compare them against each other to get the best possible deal.
I also read Peter Greenberg’s advice on his website www.petergreenberg.com. Peter is an Emmy award-winning writer and producer. He is the Travel Editor for NBC’s Today show, CNBC and MSNBC, a best-selling author and host of the nationally syndicated Peter Greenberg Worldwide R
adio show. Greenberg is contributing editor to Men’s Health and Forbes, and was also Contributing Editor for America Online (AOL), a contributor to The New Yorker magazine and a frequent guest on ABC’s Oprah Winfrey Show and The View.
Here is an article that I read that really has some great advice. Happy flying!
With the passing of my friend Jen Bunich, I have been fortunate enough to get to know some of Jen’s wonderful friends who loved her very much. I had a lovely conversation with Kaylee who enjoys skincare and makeup as much as I do — well, probably not as obsessive as I am but enough that I thought about sharing a few skincare items that I have used and still use that I think really can make a difference.I admit that I used to be an avid tanner (tanning beds and the sun) when I was younger and although I now wear sunscreen everyday the damage to my skin has already been done. No you cannot see it yet – but in a few years it will start to rear its ugly face. I am in full denial and am trying to diminish whatever damage I have done.
My skin is very sensitive and oily. I have foun
d over the years that I am allergic to Salicylic Acid which is found in most acne products. I can only use Benzoyl Peroxide. I am also allergic to PABA which is found in most sunscreens and tanning products. I always looks for the words “PABA Free”.
Here are some products that I have used – some great, some not so great. Read the rest of this entry »
It is with great sadness that I write about my friend, Je
n Bunich, who passed away yesterday morning with a sudden illness. I did not know Jen as well as some of my other ’supper club’ friends but her death has been devastating to say the least.
Not only was she a talented woman, she was unbelieveably kind, she was funny, giving and beautiful inside and out. She leaves behind a 2 year old daughter, Claire, and a husband, Boris. She will be missed dearly. Her most recent passion was a blog site she started with her best friend, also named Jen called “Charlotte Smarty Pants”. It specializes in being a Mom in the Charlotte metropolitian area. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My life will forever be changed by Jen.

Local Story of Jen in the Charlotte Observer – 2/24/08
Our friend, Keely, had a bachelorette party in Charleston, SC in October 2007. Jen was amazing – she planned the whole “big” night out and had all the props and party stuff ready to go. I thought “I” was organized – she was unreal. Yep, I was jealous of her planning skills. Here are some pictures from the weekend. http://listmaker.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/bachelorette-weekend/
So many Charlotte Smarty Pants readers have asked if they can contribute to Jen’s 2 1/2 year old daughter, Claire. Any contributions can be made to:
